The Five Goals of Arts Council defines what every company should aim to achieve within their work.

Excellence

The aim is to create artistic work ‘that represent[s] the height of ambition, talent and skill’ (Arts Council, undated).

From the very first meeting, Bleeding Edge agreed on the aim to create work that was of a high standard with the hope this was reflected within our debut show Inka.

For Everyone

Accessibility is crucial when creating theatre, this is heavily integrated throughout our work.  Bleeding Edge means untested devices and machinery that is not out in the public eye. Technology has an impact in everyone’s life, the younger generation have experienced technology from birth, the generation of members in the company know life before technology was so prevalent, and the older generation are not as  experienced. The ethos of the company has relevance to all generations which in turn creates accessibility.

Resilience and Sustainability

The topic of technology within Inka, is one we believe will continue to stay relevant. Bleeding Edge Theatre Company, aim to create performances that tackle the topic of how technology affects us and vice versa. Therefore, we believe this creates resilience and sustainability within our company for future projects.

Diversity and Skills

Bleeding Edge is created by 11 individuals that all bring a new skill set. Right from the beginning, we capitalised on the individual strengths of each member. For example, Will is a talented composer so original music became a crucial element in the process. We celebrate the individuality of every member within the company which in turn creates diverse performances.

Children and Young People

Though Inka was not created for the sole audience of children and young people, this is not an audience we would disregard for the future of Bleeding Edge.
