The Overall Script Developments
In this short post, I am providing four plot graphs where I detail (in note form) some of the major changes in each of my drafts. There is also an evaluation at the bottom of this post.
Evaluation of the Script Re-Writing Process:
I think it is important for theatre makers and script writer to be critical and receptive to their own work. Sometimes, it can be hard to notice the flaws and inconsistencies, and this was the case for me on a couple of occasions. Caroline Jester, a dramaturg and author of Playwright Across the Curriculum, remarks that “play-writing is ultimately collaborative, because it is written for others to play and for an audience to be witness to” (Bush Theatre, 2018). There were many nights where I was secluded away writing, however, without the assistance of Dr Diane Dubois, Rosie Bingham, Bleeding-Edge, and the Sherbet Lemon Theatre, I would have missed some glaringly obvious mistakes and/or plot developments to my script. The process of re-writing was not an easy one (particularly for the cast re-learning lines)! However, it was truly enjoyable and exciting to polish on characters!
