Welcome back!
Week five has been a strong week of development!
This week our choreographers Fliss and Poppy have been busy finalising our opening sequence and adding in new and exciting lifts.
This week the cast have been concentrating on script work. Our director, Marcus, decided that he would also take on the role of script writer and put all of our thoughts and ideas into words. As a company, we decided this would be the most efficient way of making as much progress as possible. Marcus managed to create a full-draft for the entire play. And now as a result, we have text that will accompany the movement Fliss and Poppy have been working on!
This week was very exciting for myself (producer) and Marcus (director) as we both attended the workshop on Dramaturgy by Tom Cornford, from Central School of Speech and Drama. The workshop was incredibly helpful, as Tom went around each theatre company and asked what we were struggling with so far. Marcus and I identified that we were struggling with the structure, specifically the ending of the piece. Tom then led us through a number of activities that would perhaps help us in solving this issue. The solution was found! We were then able to draw a clear structure of events which allowed Marcus to go and write the rest of the script. Look out for Marcus’s post outlining how this helped him!
In rehearsals the cast have been working on combining the opening movement and text, ready for our show back on Monday. We have all been working very hard and are excited to showcase what we have so far!
